Coir Production
Besgrow Coir products are processed using traditional and non traditional techniques. To ensure we provide you with the highest quality products we have control throughout all stages of production, from raw resource to shipping.

Our coir processing factory is located in the North West province of the tropical island of Sri Lanka. This province is home to the vast majority of the country’s coconut plantations. Coconuts are used to create a variety of goods; Besgrow uses the husk of the coconut to produce a range of high quality horticultural products.
Only selected husks are used to produce Besgrow products. We use two methods of processing, traditional and non-traditional. This provides our customers with a variety of products to meet their different requirements.
The traditional process is used to extract the fibres for use in textiles and the pith for use in growing media. With the non-traditional method whole husks are cut and crushed to produce coarser growing media grades. Both of these processes are labour intensive and use manual and mechanical production techniques.
Quality control is a central part of our process. We monitor numerous aspects of the coir material throughout all stages of production to ensure that our strict quality standards are met. With comprehensive quality assurance systems in place, you can be confident that Besgrow will provide you with consistent, high quality coir.
