Using Sphagnum Moss for Growing Orchids

Growing orchids can be a tricky business. Most orchids are epiphyts, meaning they grow on other plants instead of in the ground in soil. And the other types of orchids (including terrestrial orchids (or ground orchids), and lithophytes (growing on rocks)), also don’t grow in soil. So they need different media to grow in. Their roots require air around them and they get moisture and nutrients by sucking up water from the atmosphere, or they spread their roots over the surface they are growing on and collect water as it trickles down.

Orchids grow naturally in moss, and Sphagnum Moss is an excellent growing media. Besgrow Spagmoss is proven for over 30 years as an outstanding media to grow many varieties of orchids in. Whether your orchid is very young or well established in a large pot, we have a variety of grades of moss with different length of strand and colour to perfectly suit your expectations and your Orchid’s demands.
